Aniseed Balls

Did you know...

Aniseed Balls were used in Limpet Mines in the second world war as a time delay for setting off explosives!  The Aniseed Balls would slowly dissolve in the water therefore allowing the saboteurs (frogmen) a safe amount of time to escape before the charges went off on the enemy ships.

Aniseed of course is a traditional English sweet.  The brown Aniseed Balls contain a real rapeseed and made with Aniseed Oil (seeds from the Anise plant, Pimpinella anisum)
