Jelly Babies

Jelly Babies aka 'Unclaimed Babies' (was once the nickname) is a very British and traditional sweet.  As seen on Nigel Slater: Life is Sweets!

Launched by Bassett's in 1918 in Sheffield as "Peace Babies" to mark the end of World War I. Production was suspended during World War II due to wartime shortages. In 1953 the product was relaunched as "Jelly Babies"

Comes is different fruit flavours and shaped like babies, these sweets have been used in many inventive ways including a DNA double helix!
