Welcome to our website. If you continue to browse and use this website, you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of use, which together with our privacy policy govern The Oldest Sweet Shop’s relationship with you in relation to this website.
 
The term Keith & Gloria Tordoff t/a The Oldest Sweet Shop, registered trademark ‘Tordoff Oldest Sweet Shop Est 1827’, or ‘us’ or ‘we’ refers to the owner of the website whose registered office is 39 High Street, Pateley Bridge, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG3 5JZ. The term ‘you’ refers to the user or viewer of our website.
 
Our Guarantee
 
At the Oldest Sweet Shop in England, we are committed to providing an excellent service and believe you should be delighted with your sweets.  If you have purchased our products or received them as a gift and would like to contact us with your comments, please do so by emailing comments@oldestsweetshop.co.uk. 
 
The Contract between us
 
When you place an order with us, the order is only accepted once full payment of the products is received.  Once payment has been received by us we will confirm that your order has been accepted by sending an email to you via the email provided on your order form (check out page).  Our acceptance of your order brings into existence a legally binding contract between us.
 
In the unlikely event that the goods are no longer available, or that we have made a pricing mistake, we will advise you of this. 
 
Price
 
The prices payable for products that you order are as set out in our website and our catalogue. 
 
We always try to make sure that the prices are accurate but on rare occasions an error may occur. If we discover an error in pricing of the products you ordered we will inform you as soon as possible using the contact details you supply us with. We will then give you the option of reconfirming your order at the correct price or cancelling it.  If an order is cancelled, any payment made for the product/s will be fully refunded.
 
You will be required to pay extra for postage and our delivery charges are set out during the ordering process and in our Delivery Information.
 
Payment
 
Payment must be received in full before we despatch your order.  We accept credit card, debit card, cheque, postal order or you can ring us with your card details.
 
We accept payments through the secure payment provider  , Paypal and Amazon Checkout.  All options are secure and your credit/debit card details are securely encrypted and we do not see details of your card.
 
Your credit card company may also do security checks called 3D Secure which helps protect your card against unauthorised use and give you peace of mind when shopping online.  If you would like to learn further information about 3D Secure please visit ‘Verified by VISA’ or ‘Mastercard Securecode’ 
 
Payment by Cheque, Postal Order or by Telephone
 
We only accept payment via cheque from a UK based bank account.  Please make cheques payable to ‘Oldest Sweet Shop Online’ and remember to include postage.  Please also include with your cheque a note of the products you ordered, name and delivery address.  We will despatch your goods once the cheque has cleared.
 
You can pay by Postal Order that can be purchased from your local Post Office.  Please make payable to ‘Oldest Sweet Shop’ and remember to include postage.  Please also include with your postal order a note of the products you ordered, name and delivery address.  The advantage of paying by postal cheque is the goods will be immediately despatched.  We will not cover the cost of arranging a postal cheque.
 
For telephone orders, please call 01423 712371 where we will take and process your card details over the phone.  Your card details will not be kept on record and are destroyed after use.
 
Availability
 
We always work hard to make sure we have plenty of products in stock.  But on a rare occasion due to the extensive range of sweets we sell, a product listed may be actually be out of stock.  
 
If we cannot supply a product ordered, we reserve the right to substitute the goods with something similar (or as close as possible).  We may offer to send the product to you as a back order as soon as the product comes available.  Subject to you agreeing to waiting alternatively you may request a refund of the out of stock item.
 
Nut and Other Allergies
 
Unless specified, all our products may contain traces of nuts.
 
Corporate Orders
 
All orders must be paid in full before despatch
 
All necessary artwork must be received at least 30 days before the intended delivery date of the products.  
 
We must have your permission to use your artwork and logos.
 
Right for you to cancel your order
 
We believe you should be happy with your order but there may be occasions where you may have to return a product.  Goods can be returned within 7 days of receipt to 39 High Street, Pateley Bridge, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG3 5JZ. Please return products with receipt, your contact details and a reason of the return. We are always trying to improve our service and would like to hear your comments. You will be refunded in full subject to abiding by the terms and conditions should you wish to cancel your order.
 
If the order has not yet been despatched, you can cancel your order by calling us on 01423 712371.
 
Your statutory rights are not affected.
 
Cancellation by us
 
We reserve the right to cancel the order if:
 
• We have insufficient stock to deliver the products you have ordered.  If this happens, we will contact you to advise when the product will be back in stock. 
• We do not deliver to your area
• If we do cancel your order, we will notify you be email and will re-credit your account as soon as possible usually within 24 hours although it may take longer to show on your bank account.  No compensation for disappointment will not be offered.
 
Delivery of Products to you
 
We work hard to make your sure your order leaves our premises after 2-3 days of being ordered but cannot guarantee this during busy periods and seasonal fluctuations. Please order with enough lead-time as we will not be liable for any loss caused to you by late delivery.
 
We will deliver the products ordered by you to the delivery address provided.  It is however your responsibility to provide us with accurate delivery information as we will not check or verify addresses and messages supplied by you.  
If Royal Mail has attempted delivery whilst you were out, a note should have been left advising you of your parcel.  
 
Delivery Methods & Timescales
 
If you are ordering from the UK mainland you can choose either Second Class Royal Mail or DPD for orders under 2kg.  Royal Mail 2nd Class delivery aim is from the 3rd working day.  DPDdeilvers on the next working day after despatch.  If you order over 2kg we send all our parcels with DPD.  If you require a parcel urgently, please call us on 01423 712371 Wednesday - Sunday and we will endeviour to fulfill your order subject to timescales (please note extra postage may be required).
 
If you live in the Scottish Islands & Highlands, Northern Ireland, Channel Islands, Sicily Isles or the Isle of Man, we do not offer any courier service.  Instead we offer 1st and 2nd Class Royal Mail.  Please note that parcels to these areas may take longer than Royal Mails recommended timescale.
 
Whilst items sent by Royal Mail usually arrive after 3 working days of despatch from us, Royal Mail states that only items still not delivered after 15 working days can be officially classified as lost. If the products are not delivered within the estimated delivery time, please contact us by telephone or email.
 
We cannot guarantee a specific delivery timescale unless you get in contact with us.
 
Delivery Rates
 
Your delivery rates are worked out on the check out page and based upon the weight of the sweets.
 
To offer you the best rate possible, we send all orders under 2kg by Second Class Royal Mail and orders over 2kg by DPD.  It works out more economical to order over 2kg worth of sweets as you will not pay more than £5.99 for postage (UK Mainland customers only).
 
Liability 
 
If the products you receive are not what you ordered, defective or the incorrect quantity, please contact us.  We will then correct your order.  For example:
 
• Make good any shortage or non-delivery
• Supply and deliver substitute goods
• Replace any defective goods
• Refund or do a partial refund at our own discretion  
 
Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused through postage such as climatic conditions affecting the product. We make sure that all items are in perfect condition before they are sent to you.  If your parcel does arrive in a poor condition, please contact us. 
 
We will not be liable to you for any indirect or consequential loss, damage or expenses (including loss of profits, business or goodwill).  We shall have no liability to pay any money to you by way of compensation other than to refund to you the amount paid by you for the products in question.
 
Neither we nor any third parties provide any warranty or guarantee as to the accuracy, timeliness, performance, completeness or suitability of the information and materials found or offered on this website for any particular purpose. You acknowledge that such information and materials may contain inaccuracies or errors and we expressly exclude liability for any such inaccuracies or errors to the fullest extent permitted by law.
 
Your use of any information or materials on this website is entirely at your own risk, for which we shall not be liable. It shall be your own responsibility to ensure that any products, services or information available through this website meet your specific requirements.
 
Events beyond our control: we shall have no liability for any failure to deliver products you have ordered or any delay in doing so or for any damage or defect to products delivered that is caused by any event or circumstance beyond our reasonable control. This includes without limitation to, strikes, lock-outs and other industrial disputes, breakdown of systems or network access, flood, fire, explosion or accident.

This website contains material which is owned by or licensed to us. This material includes, but is not limited to, the design, layout, look, appearance and graphics. Reproduction is prohibited other than in accordance with the copyright notice, which forms part of these terms and conditions.
